ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book includes a selection of scenes that cover the creative output of the company from early shows such as 'Klub 'through to 'Little Dogs'. It takes each of these scenes and examines in terms of the initial idea followed by the methods used in transferring that idea from a scrap of conversation or grotty notebook into the production and onto the stage. The book looks at possible ways in which this existing scene might be developed or how the creative process could be harnessed to create something different. It includes a number of essays that cover some of the elements and ideas that have become central to the Frantic method of thinking about and creating theatre. The book looks at specific uses of music and text in theatre practise and examines warm-up advice and games through to advanced choreographic exercises.
