ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights scenes from Frantic Assembly shows, describing the devising process behind each of them. The initial idea and process shows quite a bit of creative development. The basic task within development process is to find connections between people's movements. The process highlights tension between people. Tension can be a positive or a negative. Within Lullaby Hymns it was about people with emotions to hide, desperate to avoid being asked to talk about them. The process could just as easily portray sexual tension. It is all about changing the context. Scribble was always going to be a challenging section of the show to achieve, purely because it has the fastest beats per minute (bpm) rate of any track used in any Frantic show ever. So, in many ways, the creation of Scribble seemed like an indicator of all that they are when it comes to the creation of physical sequences.
