ABSTRACT

Pupils with an Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) have a number of difficulties that may impact on their conduct and learning in practical subjects, on top of language difficulties and understanding instructions. There is a large amount of organization needed to prepare for and carry out the experiments or produce the practical work in Science and Technology. Some of the world's greatest scientists have Asperger Syndrome and it is often one of the areas of strength for a pupil on the autism spectrum because it deals with facts and figures. The great scientists went on developing their area of interest until they became super-specialists and, never giving up, made some discoveries that have, quite literally, changed the world. However, many scientists did not show this promise in school. The need for perfection may make practical subjects difficult for the pupil to carry out.
