DNA-PROVEN EXONERATIONS revealed to Nancy and me that gov-ernment misconduct is more prevalent than we had assumed. Police misconduct was present in 50 percent of the first seventy-four DNA exonerations, while prosecutorial misconduct was a factor in nearly 45 percent of the first seventy-four DNA exonerations.1
