ABSTRACT

One day Eugenio decided, after having seen Geronimo's training, that he was now ready to be directly responsible for his work. Now that he had to decide on his own what to do, he needed inspiration. There are various ways of finding inspiration. For example, by looking at the work of other theatre groups, seeing performances of other theatre traditions, reading books, going to the cinema, or looking at photographs and works of art. Geronimo started to work on the principle of the repetition of movement, introducing pieces by Philip Glass in his training. He inserted, within a fixed structure the forward and backward danced walk minimal variations that mainly consisted of the occasional shifting of emphasis in his steps. Geronimo worked on this principle for years, applying it also to his arms. Books are another source of inspiration for him, not just by means of words but also through images.
