ABSTRACT

The first two seasons of Geronimo's training included acrobatic, 'Swiss', physical and plastique exercises, work on the principles of composition, introversion/extroversion and slow motion, as well as dances with sticks and wands. The presence of Eugenio in the training space and the other companions helped him to explore this possibility for years. The boredom generated by the mechanical execution of exercises and fixed scores of actions is exhausting and leads to the temptation to surrender. So, while training Geronimo have to keep the mind occupied by thinking about the following elements: space, energy, speed and dimension. Apart from keeping his attention alive, the flow of these images is essential for the work with principles or sequences of exercises because it provides a dynamic charged with nuances and variations. He often mentions to his students the example of great pianists who had to practise for very long periods before feeling ready to play famous musical pieces.
