ABSTRACT

Roberta Carreri is one of acclaimed theatre company Odin Teatret's longest-serving actors, and the last to be trained by Eugenio Barba himself. In this book, she relives the milestones of her professional journey, including: her first experiences of street theatre. Odin Teatret's ensemble performances emerge from an idea or a need of Eugenio's. As the tour with The Gospel According to Oxyrhincus proceeded, author continued to develop the tasks set by Eugenio. In the meantime, she continued to explore some principles from Butoh during her training. Eugenio suggested that author explore the figure of Judith from the Old Testament. When she showed him the sequence of the Magdalene images accompanied by Silent Night, he suggested substituting the song with a love monologue which they created together from various fragments of different poems. For Judith, author had gathered a number of poems by Paul Eluard.
