ABSTRACT

Roberta Carreri is one of acclaimed theatre company Odin Teatret's longest-serving actors, and the last to be trained by Eugenio Barba himself. In this book, she relives the milestones of her professional journey, including: her first experiences of street theatre. Elena Flores, with her talent and experience as a violinist, has also become part of the ensemble of the Chronic Life, replacing Frans Winther who is no longer in the performance. Andersen's Dream ends with a surprise in Bogota with Eugenio's declaration at the end of the performance, directly addressing the spectators: 'one has witnessed the very last performance of Andersen's Dream'. Two weeks after the end of the third phase of The Chronic Life, Torgeir and author discover that the reason for his lack of energy is probably due to a cancer. Like a successful cross between the Buddha and Prince Myskin, Torgeir persisted in a serene optimism which filled him with light until his very last breath.
