ABSTRACT

The author explains 'The Dance of Intentions', which is a sequence of physical and vocal exercises she have developed over the course of many years of teaching. The period of her daily training lasted fourteen years, after which her focus shifted from personal work to teaching others how to train. They begin with a little exercise which she learnt from Torgeir Wethal on how to jump silently. The exercise is useful for exercising the muscles of the feet. One will jump in the way when the author clap her hands in the following exercise such as the Awakening, the Snake, Cobra, Cobra with resistance, Dynamic immobility, Slow motion, Seaweed and Flexing the eyes. An essential element of training is continuity. The principle was inspired by a work session led by Claire Heggen of Theatre du Movement, which the author observed at Odin Teatret: Throwing, Stopping, Beckoning, And Pointing.
