ABSTRACT

In the autumn, Tom Fjordefalk and author rented a small house at the edge of a wood with two rooms and a kitchen, which other Odin Teatret actors had inhabited in the past. Two months later he went back to live in the theatre, this time in a room in attic. Running on the beaches of Salento was a completely different experience to doing so on the frost-covered fields of Denmark. Denmark was an abstract entity for him during his first years with Odin Teatret. He worked all day long in the theatre, and with the exception of the supermarket, the library, the dentist, the doctor and the bank, his contact with Holstebro was for all intents and purposes non-existent. On his arrival in Carpignano, Eugenio had asked Elsa Kvamme to teach him Norwegian. This was the Scandinavian language spoken by Eugenio, Torgeir, Elsa herself and Else Marie. Tom was Swedish.
