ABSTRACT

The assessment of impact looks to future implementations and gathers lessons learned from all stakeholders and at all steps of the model. This feedback capitalizes on success and mitigates weaknesses by only promoting what was effective to subsequent iterations of the process. In addition to identifying areas to refine and strengthen, if there are common implementation challenges across strategies. In many cases, there can be a common set of oversights, mistakes, mis-interpretations, or other factors that limited the effectiveness of a strategy. Identifying these can help teacher's pinpoint more specific refinements. Even though refine is the last step, the formative Data-Based Decision Making (DBDM) cycle should be seen as iterative. However, instructional leaders should see the cycle as a flexible tool for guiding decision making and as not a strict process to be adhered to step by step.
