ABSTRACT

The juxtaposition of "cJassical conditioning" and "cognitive processes" may appear incongruous to so me since the re\ationship between the two has not been particularly prominent in the psychological literature. It is the thesis of this chapter, however, that a strong relationship does exist both in terms of the his tory of interest in the processes involved in cJassical conditioning and the usefulness of the conditioning paradigm in investigating many processes that fall under the rubric "cognitive."
