ABSTRACT

As its name implies, two shots include two characters in the frame; these shots are usually composed as long shots, medium long shots, and medium shots, although any shot that features only two characters, regardless of shot size is technically called a two shot. Showing two characters sharing the frame inherently makes a narrative statement about how they connect to each other. Lighting can also play a crucial role in how audiences interpret character connections in a two shot. Visual connections between characters and a location can also be suggested through lighting by adjusting the lighting ratio to control how noticeable, and therefore how meaningful, a setting is in a composition.
