Fetishes, the anal universe, and other fantasies of one-person relating

I begin this chapter with quotes from Fight Club (Palahniuk, 2005), a book arguably about male sexual perversion, or the Western male’s attempt to harness, reckon, and authorize aggressive and sexual desires. In line with the themes in this book, the story is about the struggle to authorize one’s needs and capacities for potency. It is a fascinating story of the various strategies the ‘two’ protagonists employ in order to manage, control, and experience intense desire.
