ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a number of methods for the collaborative construction of memory projects. The most important thing about planning is defining the meaning of the project you want to pursue and from that point defining the products, its interviewees, the methodology and the best action strategies. The project can be planned in modules or memory work packages, allowing work to begin with fewer resources. A modular approach means work packages can be distributed and time scaled. It is always important to take into account the three main parameters adopted by a social memory technology approach when planning: participation, low cost and social impact. Defining the final product, selecting the interviewees and discussing the meanings of memory, are simple means of guaranteeing that everyone can make a contribution. Many projects become derailed by poor organisation of human labour and underestimation of the time management required. In addition, each one should feel comfortable with the role proposed.
