ABSTRACT

Once you’ve completed a costume for your puppet, you should consider what kind of accessories you’ll want to go with it. Little things do mean a lot, and the right accessories can add the perfect finishing touch to your puppet’s character. They can also give good clues to the type of role your

puppet is playing. For example, round spectacles and gray or white hair could

mean a grandmotherly type, while a red bandana and cowboy hat conjure up

the image of a cowpoke from the Old West. As with clothing, you can often find

doll or children’s accessories that will work very well for your puppet with a mini-

mum of alteration, and it’s a great feeling when you come across that perfect

hat or pair of glasses as you shop. It can be much more fun, though, to make

your own! That way, you can be sure your tie or hat will match your costume

perfectly, and it’s really not as hard as you might think.
