ABSTRACT

To truly master the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSS-M), students will need multiple opportunities to practice concepts throughout the school year. Gone are the days when students learned about a concept during a chapter of instruction and then forgot about the topic until it was time to cram for the state assessment. And, speaking of assessments, those are changing, too. With the implementation of the CCSS-M, there will also be new versions of end-of-year assessments that are being developed by two consortia, Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (referred to as Smarter Balanced) and Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC).
