ABSTRACT

The aims of case management are to ensure:

that proceedings are disposed of expeditiously with the minimum necessary commitment of resources by the court and by the litigants themselves;

that cases which can be disposed of by some means other than trial should be identified as early as possible;

that cases going to trial are adequately prepared, with the minimum commitment of resources necessary to achieve a fair decision; and

that there is an appropriate and effective allocation of the limited resources available to the court.
