ABSTRACT
Sound design is the selection, manipulation, arrangement, and
composition of all the aural components of a production. Despite
the sound designer’s place as a relatively recent, and sometimes
still not fully understood part of the design team, sound as an
integral part of the theatrical experience is not new. Sound has
been used to accentuate and underscore religious, ceremonial,
and theatrical events around the world for thousands of years.
