ABSTRACT

The chapter focuses on the case study that approach for research on individual classroom contexts or particular course contexts. For those interested in doing classroom research to gain a deeper understanding of what is happening within the context of the classroom, this approach fits perfectly. It includes the examples of research studies from the classroom research, Yin describes four different case study designs. Diana Garvin, has direct observations, along with proxy measures surveys, interviews, focus groups, in an effort to triangulate her data and to gather as much as she can to fully understand the context from different angles. Pilot study approach gives classroom researchers a chance to test out or more closely examine ideas on a smaller scale and perhaps within a smaller context or within a smaller scope.
