ABSTRACT
Cartagena, as an older European city, has undergone many transformations. From the Carthaginian settlement of Qart Hadast to the Roman city of Carthago Novo, through Arab control in the Middle Ages, to its current Spanish name Cartagena, the culture, fabric of the city, and the buildings themselves have slowly evolved, but its enduring assets establish Cartagena's significance in the history of the region and beyond.
