ABSTRACT

Correct measurements form the basis for right pattern drafting; taking precise measurements is extremely important as they will enable to draft a basic block pattern to the size of model. Standard measurements are also provided to help the one to check those which have taken from own model. It is unlikely that these will correspond exactly to the standard sizes but will enable to make a comparison to those have gathered and to see if one have taken a wildly inaccurate measurement in error. In addition to the measurements one take, an observation of the person measured, is also beneficial. Each person has a unique body shape so these measurements are unlikely to match person exactly. All measurements are recorded in centimetres and are for a person of average height 160cm to 170cm. Taking our own measurements using the guide provided is the most precise way of creating an exact basic block pattern.
