ABSTRACT
This introduction presents an overview of key concepts covered in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book explains Keynes's life from 1906 to 1914 and also explains his return to active Liberal politics. The new interpretation is mainly based on the historical context of Keynes's thought. The two authors demonstrated divergent attitudes towards Keynes, the former being far more sympathetic than the latter, but the fundamental psychological tension they explored was the same, and pertained to the relationship between Keynes and Bloomsbury. The Apostles are a 'secret' Cambridge society of which many great minds, such as Alfred Tennyson, Henry Sidgwick and Bertrand Russell, have been members. The problematic relationship between Moore's theory of ethics, Keynes's theory of rational behaviour under uncertainty as put forth in the Treatise on Probability, and the elusive account made in 'My Early Beliefs' is at the core of this account, the trunk from which all other ramifications of Keynes's mind branched out.
