ABSTRACT
Speed patterning is a term used to describe a process utilizing an existing pattern that has been drafted by hand or on a computer. Just like all clothing patterns the pattern pieces are printed out as flat shapes. The assembly goes very quickly once a pattern has been created. Along the same lines, it would be especially interesting to see Simplicity and Vogue patterns used to build foam clothing. Speed patterning has primarily been associated with constructing foam armor. For armor closed-cell foam would be the suggested material to use. Occasionally it is possible to discover interesting shapes in the form of ornaments and curios that could be used as foundation shapes for designs. Organic and/or geometric shapes can be utilized for their patterned shape, then reinterpreted or modified for use with foam. Rigid objects such as curios made from ceramic, plastic, or metal can easily have a skin applied. The skin can be rubber or plastic and tape.
