I am more accepting of the fact that Joe experienced fear, and perhaps terror, before he died. How could he not have? A colleague of mine who lost her husband to a sudden heart attack tells me that as time passes you have a longer view, encompassing the whole relationship, but there remains a primordial part of the brain that always focuses on the moment of death.
