ABSTRACT

Briggs’ extension of the Sternberg additive-factor method to include follow-up analyses of the systematic variability of Y intercepts and slopes of reaction time functions was an important basic contribution to binary character classification task research. A psychological construct is an idea developed or “constructed” as a work of informed, scientific imagination; that is, it is a theoretical idea developed to explain and to organize some aspects of existing knowledge … the construct is much more than the label; it is a dimension understood or inferred from its network of relationships … Judgments of construct validity are useful in efforts to improve measures for the scientific study of a construct. Bayesian probabilities were used to estimate appropriate information values for each successive cycle of comparisons required by the test structure assumed by the model.
