ABSTRACT

As a means of acknowledging and celebrating a child's progress in therapy, this activity is designed to be used as the child nears the termination of therapy. Arising from the framework of narrative therapy, the purpose of the activity is to help children create a rich and permanent record of their development of an alternative story about themselves. More specifically, by helping the child through the process of creating his or her own children's book about the externalized problem, this activity allows the child to document his or her new relationship with an externalized presenting problem.
