ABSTRACT
In order to explore cities and regions and appreciate what it is that gives them their substance, we have taken movement as our departure point - a position that, though originally intended to take classic, spatially-centered urban sociology and turn it on its head, has led to an analysis of the urban phenomenon based on the aptitude for movement of individual and collective actors and the receptiveness with which these movements are met with in the given enviroment.
