ABSTRACT

In Chapter 8, we described the critical importance of the value of egalitarianism in China’s economic policies in the late 1950s. The philosophy of “no worry about poverty but about inequality,” which was handed down in history, had led to a strong sense of animosity toward the wealthy people in China’s history. Interestingly, in mid-November 2002, at the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Communist leaders openly denounced egalitarianism and hailed entrepreneurship, making the world wonder: How Communist is Communist China?
