ABSTRACT

The very existence of the planet Earth seems threatened at times by intolerance and hatred, but tremendous progress has been made in helping human beings appreciate the different cognitive, moral, and spiritual worlds in which people live. Bom in 1896 in Switzerland, Jean Piaget developed the most influential theory of cognitive development in the twentieth century. This journey will begin with the stages of cognitive development created by Jean Piaget, whose work serves as a foundation for the stages of moral development constructed by Lawrence Kohlberg. The preoperational period may be best known by adults because of the development of animism or the tendency to treat inanimate objects as if they are alive. With the advent of concrete operations, parents may mourn the passing of the boundless imagination of the preoperational child. The Crompton family proves to be a case example of a family devoid of religious passion.
