ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the final stages of inner transformation are explored. As one works through the stages of healing and embracing one's pain through letting go of fear, sorrow, grief, and rage, there are more positive qualities that emerge including compassion, love, and forgiveness. As these higher qualities are realized, one can utilize this positive affective experience to further heal all the original wounded images of the internal family. The last two stages of healing are demonstrated as we come to the end of Sheila's healing of her intragenerational family. The closing healing stages begin with going back to the original images of the client's inner child and inner parent.
