ABSTRACT

Healing is derived from the Anglo-Saxon words hal and holy, which mean to make whole or to restore to balance. When one is in a state of wholeness, there is an inner connectedness. This feeling of connectedness brings with it a sense of harmony, peace, and equanimity. The more we can experience healing moments, the more our lives have greater meaning and purpose. We have a stronger sense of inner congruence, which increases vitality and self-worth. When we are connected to a sense of wholeness within ourselves, our contact with the outside world is enhanced. Our perceptions are more vivid. We are able to receive more of the nuances in daily life with greater clarity. Life is experienced with more openness and simplicity. In this state of simplicity, we increase our presence to the moment and live more fully in the here and now. As we restore our sense of wholeness to our lives, we begin to honor and appreciate life. There is a feeling of self-acceptance, which brings with it a feeling of caring and lovingness toward ourselves. As we experience a growing loving acceptance of ourselves, it is natural to share and express this love outwardly, which includes our relationships with others. With restoring wholeness to our lives, we are filled with more moments of joy. We find ourselves having more energy and an enhanced ability to flow with life's continuous changes.
