ABSTRACT

In the 1980s, when author was still working as a hypnotherapist, it occurred to him to combine massage and hypnosis. He teamed up with handsome masseur, whom it found through his ad in a gay paper. To be completely professional, we rented a massage table. We advertised our services, offering a nonsexual massage and hypnosis session. The masseur's attractive face and muscular body adorned our large ad. Tantra is associated these days with Tibet, but actually it originated in India. There is a lot more to this mystical teaching than sexual rituals, but this is what readily comes to mind when a masseur advertises a tantric massage. When we finally made contact, he told to the author that his name was Sundaram. He pronounced his name in the staccato, not the mumbled English way. Sundaram reminded me of the hippies of yore. Under a nondescript kerchief, his thick black hair was long and unkempt.
