ABSTRACT

Love, creativity, and generativity are some of the greatest joys and fulfillments of mankind. Perversions of love are among the greatest destroyers of happiness. Love is also felt as a fullness in the chest often referred to the heart. An ache reminiscent of an overfilled breast may carry the person to the beloved with a readiness to give them one’s heart. Love, sex, creativity, and generativity are among the most poignant human pleasures. They also make one feel good and worthwhile. Mutual love, faith, and loyalty are admired and raise the self-esteem of the partners. Love and generativity have a sacred dimension as a creative force that draws things together and renews them in nature’s eternal life cycle. Idealization of the merit of every detail of the beloved occurs in love of a person, country, or God. Yet principles of reciprocity also require warm corroboration and fair give and take.
