ABSTRACT

Application of the wholist perspective in traumatology includes understanding that the wide variety of fluctuating and often contradictory traumatic stress and fulfillment responses are different survival strategy manifestations at different triaxial points. A triaxial view of trauma illnesses that subsumes the major phenomenological and dynamic views was presented. The essence of trauma treatment is to understand the language and meaning of trauma and in safety reverse this irrationality. The various components of traumatic stress were described along three axes. Components in the process from stressors to illnesses were described as part of the process axis. Ramifications of survival strategies in the depth axis contribute to solution of the conundrum of the great variability and often contradictory nature of morals, values, principles, and ideologies. Their survival strategy sources also explain the mystery of their naturalness, in spite of their variability and seemingly paradoxical contradictions.
