We have seen that every relationship influences and is influenced by the social situation or group in which it is embedded, by the socio-cultural structure of norms, beliefs, values, and institutions, and also by the physi­ cal environment (Frontispiece). A comprehensive review of social influences on relationships is beyond the reach of this book, but a few issues must be mentioned briefly.
