ABSTRACT

Problems, pressures, surprises, and disappointments are an inevitable part of life. Consequently, in the course of evolution, man developed a mechanism to help out in adversity. This is called the “fight or flight” response. Effectively, it is an inbuilt coping kit that automatically comes into operation in times of pressure and emergency. It makes people function, temporarily, even more effectively and efficiently than they normally would in all three areas of functioning—physical, behavioral, and cognitive.
