ABSTRACT
Despite more than three decades of policy designed to increase integration, residential segregation by race/ethnicity and income has increased in U.S. metro areas since the 1970s. The belief that integration would reduce social stress and increase economic well-being has given way to the realization that America remains a nation divided by race and income.
