ABSTRACT

In 2005 Hispanics became the largest minority group in the nation (13% of the total population), accounting for more than 35 million people. Over the 1990s, the Hispanic population increased by 10 million people and accounted for almost 40% of the nation’s population growth (38%). According to some estimates, by the middle of the 21st century Hispanics will account for 25% of the population (Table 19).
