Over an image of the plexiglass model of the Liebeskind scheme, the headline, “The new wtc … Plan Picked, But Reborn Towers Won’t Really Look Like This.’’ On Charlie Rose the next evening, the amazingly slimy Larry Silverstein offered his support for “Dan’s” plan but allowed that he didn’t know that much about skyscrapers. Not a problem his own architects—Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill—wouldn’t be able to take care of, though. A telling remark. Many were surprised when—in mid- “competition” — som withdrew its own entry which was being honchoed by Roger Duffy, representing both the un-Childs and the un-Taylor, the two Skidmore partners already working directly for Silverstein.
