ABSTRACT
The unrelenting attacks against Switzerland throughout the dormant assets and Nazi gold crisis, the abuses and the brutal, dishonorable methods of the World Jewish Congress and some American politicians gradually started to irk Swiss public opinion, including some parties within Switzerland's Jewish community. Over a fifty-year period since World War II, between 1945 and 1995, the Swiss banks undoubtedly refused to undertake any systematic identification of dormant accounts held by Holocaust victims. The American view of neutrality associated with the United States tendency to make any conflict and their stakes absolute inevitably led this country to misunderstand and challenge Swiss neutrality. At the Conference on Nazi Gold convened in London in December 1997, Switzerland's transactions in gold with Germany were strongly criticized and, they form the basis of one of the reproaches made to Switzerland by Jewish organizations and American plaintiffs throughout the crisis.
