ABSTRACT
About three miles to the south of the famous tombs of Beni Hasan is the Speos Artemidos, situated in a wady or ravine in the cliffs. It is hardly a temple in the ordinary sense of the word, as it is little more than a cave, which appears to have served as a wayside chapel for the men working in the quarries further up the wady.
