ABSTRACT

Once you have made your decisions about training to becoming a teacher and about your preferred ITT route and provider, and once you have secured a place on an ITT programme, the next thing you need to do is to prepare yourself for starting your course. To do this you will need to use your imagination as well as some introspection, and this chapter supports you in doing that. Here, we ask you to think carefully about what you are looking forward to about your ITT course, what your expectations are, what concerns you have (if any), and what you think you need to learn as well as how you think you might learn it. As you read this chapter you will discover ways to get the most out of your ITT. Those of you who might still need to undergo some kind of selection interview before you are accepted onto a course will find this chapter helpful when preparing for that too.
