ABSTRACT

In Chapters 7 and 8 we have seen examples of factor analysis used for somewhat specific purposes. In Chapter 7 we saw that by factoring a test with the main personality and ability factors and by rotation to simple structure its place in factor space could be determined. This effectively demonstrated what it measured and such factor analytic designs are powerful in test validation. Since the majority of tests are not valid this is an important aspect of psychological measurement.
