ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the fifteen participants active at the end of the 1992–1993 year and nine caregivers selected for participation from earlier cohorts and recount the method by which they were selected for participation. It addresses payment of participants. The groups were also an efficient method of collecting large amounts of information on a variety of topics. At the end of the school year, focus groups were organized to elicit information about the preschool experience from the active members of the current cohort. The focus group protocol is included as Appendix D. Groups met on the last three consecutive Wednesday mornings before the final day of school. Information was gleaned through individual interviews. New and former staff was asked to review class rolls and identify individuals who made outstanding contributions to the preschool during its first six years of operation.
