ABSTRACT

A “helping” profession may be described as one in which the members are especially trained and licensed or certificated to perform a unique and needed service for the fellow human beings of the society, Gladding noted that “professional counselors obtain either a masters degree or a doctorate in counselor education”. In general, a “work-oriented” job analysis is a systematic examination of the nature and/or elements of a relatively broadly defined “position,” “occupation,” or “job.” Conceptual decisions are related to issues such as the purposes of the job analysis, situational contexts for the investigation, type of information desired, and potential uses of the results. The issues related to data-analytic procedures have been focused on the actual statistical procedures used and methods used to “combine” various types of ratings obtained. Relatedly, it was understood that every effort would be made to investigate work behaviors stipulated as specifically as possible.
