ABSTRACT
This chapter enables the reader to: understand and use an industry standard method of costing a building services engineering air conditioning project. It examines the project selling price for an air conditioning installation. The capital cost and the contractor's selling price of an air conditioning system can be found from the use of published price data, trade prices and the file accost.xls. The user enters the quantities of materials measured from plans and elevations of the ducted air conditioning system. Overall cost of an air conditioning system is generated from the data and method published in Spon's Mechanical and Electrical Services Price Book. The air conditioning installation contractor is required to take out a third party insurance policy which may cost 0.25" of the measured cost. The main contractor for the building project will require a cash discount of may be 2.5".
