ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the following such as to understand the purposes and importance of commissioning, to know the safety criteria for the safe activation of electrical systems, to know how to set to work and regulate an air duct system, to recognise the possible sources of airborne health hazards. The meaning and importance of commissioning and the scope of work that is normally carried out are introduced. Commissioning information includes: fault diagnosis data, alarm limits and corrective action, lubrication charts, lubricants list, frequency. Variable frequency control of fan motor speed works by digitally reproducing alternating current from the input 50 Hz supply. Acceleration meters can be attached to fan and motor bases to measure the vibration frequency and movement. Anti-vibration mountings are designed to absorb a particular frequency and limit the deflection of the fan. The correct system air flow can then be achieved by throttling the main damper or changing the fan speed, Revolutions Per Minute (RPM).
