ABSTRACT

The prince needs support from those around him in order to keep training and find the courage to fight the dragon. The Safety Test determines who is currently the attachment figure providing continuity for the child. Often this relationship between the child and the attachment figure is under pressure, and it is not clear whether this person will not at some time reject the child and break off contact. In that case there is a lot to lose for the child, and the child will definitely not want to risk behaving badly during a trauma-processing period. The Attachment Test helps to make clear whether the attachment figure does indeed offer the child a safe attachment bond. If that is not the case and the attachment figure cannot work on becoming more safe, another attachment figure must be found. The Safety Test is about quantity (is there an attachment figure?) and Attachment Test is about the quality of that attachment figure (is he able to provide a safe attachment bond?).
