ABSTRACT

The most contemptible part of the campaign of the Stalinists is their accusation that had Communists shot. This accusation was put in circulation by their enemies, the 'Information Agency'. That is, the political departments of the White Armies tried to scatter leaflets among the red soldiers, accusing the Red Command, and Trotsky in particular, of bloodthirstiness. The harsh methods of Comrade Trotsky in that epoch of partisanship, undiscipline, and petty bourgeois egotisms, were especially and advantageous, and necessary. The disorganized and degenerating regiments of the Fifth Army were converted into fighting troops and prepared for the capture of Kazan. In the course of those twenty-five days that Comrade Trotsky spent in Sviazhk an enormous work was accomplished. Comrade Gusev has devoted special energy to the literary revision of war history. Workers, peasants, and red soldiers, the party deceived when it told that Trotsky, the Commander of the Army, was fulfilling the will of the party and carrying out its policy.
